Our Story
In 2014, Bhavuk Kaul and Ram Jayaraman launched Plate IQ to meet the needs of the restaurant industry. Handwritten, tomato-stained invoices piled up, and overstretched staff struggled to pay vendors on time.
Over time, we realized that this problem isn’t unique to just restaurants. Finance teams in other industries were also typing in invoice data and chasing signatures. We expanded our software to help them manage approvals and vendor payments, with invoice details connected to their accounting systems.
In December 2023, Plate IQ became Ottimate. The new name reflected our expansion beyond restaurants and our focus on AI-powered AP automation for a wider range of businesses. Our software helps finance teams reduce manual work and spot overcharges before they affect margins.
Today, we’re a primarily remote team with offices in the Bay Area, Bengaluru, and Tampa. We work with finance teams to make complex AP processes easier to manage as their businesses grow.
